General Info
Fowler Park is a park managed by Vigo County in Indiana. It is located at 3000 E Oregon Church Rd in Terre Haute Indiana.
Inside Fowler Park are two lakes, a campground, picnic shelters, playgrounds, trails, a covered bridge and a pioneer village with a working gristmill. Fowler Lake, 25.9 acres, has a boat launch and a beach for swimming. The lake is stocked with largemouth bass, bluegill, red ear sunfish, channel catfish and black crappie. The second lake is located on the west side of the park hidden behind the hillside. This is also where the park’s trails are located. Find out more information on Facebook by clicking here.
My visit
This was my second visit to Fowler Park this year. My first visit to Fowler Park was many years ago, as a young child, camping with my Grandpa and Grandma Gaskins. Every time I visit, it stirs up memories of my childhood. The Pioneer Days Festival in October used to be a big deal. It has sadly went downhill over the years. The festival does provide an opportunity to experience the Pioneer way of life.
The Irishmen Covered Bridge is still being restored. I captured a few pictures of it during this visit. Fowler Lake's water level up a bit from my last visit in March. The scent of honeysuckle was in the air along the trails. The Dogwood trees were also in bloom, adding some color. Scroll down to see my pics and video from this visit.
