2021 Roadtrip to Desoto State Park in Fort Payne Alabama on March 9th

My visit

As Sadie and I continued on our EPIC 2021 Roadtrip, our next stop was in Alabama. We stayed in a cabin near Fort Payne, Alabama. During our stay, we explored the Desoto State Park. Unfortunately, we visited the park on a day that they park staff were doing a "controlled burn". We were unable to go down the trail to the other waterfalls in this park. We did get to see the Desoto Falls. These Falls are in a separate area a few miles from the actual park. This state park is located on Lookout Mountain, which runs through Georgia and Tennessee as well. Sadie wasn't too disappointed about the trails, but I was. LOL! There's a video of the falls below the pics!

General Info

Continuing in the rustic tradition of the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC), mountainous Desoto State Park is nestled atop beautiful Lookout Mountain in scenic Northeast Alabama and accented by many rushing waterfalls and fragrant wildflowers that will simply take your breath away. Developed in the late 1930s, the hard-working and dedicated men of the CCC made many natural enhancements to the park that have withstood the test of time and will last for future generations. Come commune with Mother Nature as DeSoto State Park offers a family-friendly atmosphere that holds wonders for people of all ages! DeSoto State Park is conveniently located only 8 miles northeast of Fort Payne, Alabama; and DeSoto Falls - also part of DeSoto State Park - is located about 7 miles north of the park heading towards Mentone, Alabama.
