My Winter Hike:

The first day of March is the first day of meteorological spring, but the Spring equinox isn't until March 20. So technically, this hike on Trail 1 at Shakamak State Park is a winter hike. The day definitely felt like spring though. Tracy and I were both over-dressed and ended up getting too warm; however, the hike was worth the suffering!

Trail 1 is the longest trail at Shakamak, and I think it's the oldest (I'm not positive of this). This trail gives you a fantastic view of Lake Shakamak. Tracy and I logged 3.9 miles. This is the longest hike we've done since Fall of 2021, so we were tired. Avoiding all of the mud just added to the exhaustion!
