Fowler Park in Vigo County Indiana
Fowler Park, founded in June of 1967, was the first park acquired by Vigo County Parks and Recreation Board. The park, obtained from the Peabody Coal Company, received its namesake in memory of Captain Eugene Fowler, the first man from Vigo County to lose his life in the Vietnam War. The park is home to the Irishmen's Covered Bridge. Irishman's Bridge was moved to Fowler Park in 1971. This bridge is the last covered bridge left standing in Vigo County. Fowler Park & Fowler Park Wilderness Area consists of 462.82 acres with total water area of 55.9 acres. Fowler Park contains a pioneer village which consists of log buildings. The pioneer village takes you back in time. The park is located at 3000 E Oregon Church Rd Terre Haute, IN 47802.
